Instrumentation AI and IoT - Ask Tigertek !

IoT and instrumentation are merging to create self-optimizing "Physical AI" systems. Recent breakthroughs focus on agentic AI workflows, global multi-carrier eSIMs, and virtual inspection tools. These tools enable factories and equipment to detect errors and self-correct without human help. 


1. "Agentic AI" in Manufacturing


  • What it is: AI that doesn't just read data, but acts on it automatically (e.g., ordering parts or tweaking machine speed).

  • The News: Agent orchestration has become the biggest new market battleground in smart manufacturing. Companies like Schneider Electric are bridging Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) so machines can seamlessly share engineering and operations data. 


2. Global eSIM Orchestration


  • What it is: A tiny chip inside a device that lets it connect to different mobile networks worldwide without changing physical SIM cards.

  • The News: Providers like Thales and Singtel launched the world's first multi-operator enterprise eSIM network. Furthermore, CSL Group acquired IoTM to help global devices stay online without connectivity drops. 


3. Virtual OT Inspection


  • What it is: Software that inspects industrial machinery for physical defects or security threats by mimicking the real hardware virtually.

  • The News: Tools (like those launched by TXOne) are actively being deployed to virtually inspect industrial machinery. This allows companies to find hardware flaws safely without stopping the physical production line. 


4. Space-Based (NTN) IoT


  • What it is: Devices that send signals to satellites in space when there are no cell towers around (e.g., in the middle of an ocean or desert). 

  • The News: Keysight and Sateliot are working with the European Space Agency to develop blockchain-enabled frameworks for 5G Non-Terrestrial Networks. This makes it safer and easier to track cargo ships and remote equipment worldwide.
